Healthcare Proposal
Jan 02, 2008
The Tri-County Workforce Investment Board, Inc. (WIB), serving Butler, Armstrong and Indiana Counties, is aware of the role healthcare plays in the economy and wellness of the local area, the region and the nation.  As such, the WIB has focused a great deal of time and energy in assisting with the development of regional and local plans to avert the impending worker crisis.
The WIB is fortunate to be the facilitating entity for three local health care consortia, with the common focus of identifying new individuals interested in entering health care professions, assisting currently employed health care workers to advance up the career ladder, designing strategies to retain workers already employed, and educating the public and youth on the rewarding and attainable careers in health care.
The consortia have accomplished much by developing media campaigns, participating in career and job fairs, offering scholarships and training opportunities, developing career lattices, and providing coaching, supervising, and mentoring opportunities. For example, one provider has seen its turnover rate decrease from 53% to 11%. As such, the Tri-County Workforce Investment Board, Inc. is offering this proposal, which outlines a multi-faceted training project designed to continue the great strides that have been taken by local employers in recruitment and retention of workers.
